Use a transfer for money you still own

The same principle applies to moving money into savings. Recording it as an expense in one account and income in the other makes it harder to understand actual earnings and spending.

Enter the movement once

  1. Choose Transfer from the transaction add options.
  2. Select the source account and destination account.
  3. Enter the amount and date, then review both accounts before saving.
  4. Open each account to check the outgoing and incoming sides.

For different currencies, check the amounts and currency fields shown by the app carefully. The receiving amount should match what arrived. A transfer fee is a separate cost to account for.

Pay a credit card with a transfer

Suppose you already recorded £60 of groceries on your card. When you pay £60 from current account to the card, transfer it between those accounts. Entering another grocery expense at payment time would count the groceries twice.

Transfers have linked sides. If you need to correct one, use the app’s transfer editing controls and review both accounts afterwards. Do not add a separate incoming entry just because the outgoing side is visible in a filtered list.
