Create and keep a backup

  1. Open the navigation menu and choose Database Tools.
  2. Choose Create Backup File and complete any folder-access request.
  3. Wait for the success message and note the file location.
  4. Keep a copy somewhere you can access if the phone is lost or replaced.

Automatic backup can help maintain regular copies. Check its folder and schedule, and confirm that recent files actually exist. A copy stored only on the same phone will not help if you lose access to that phone.

Restore a backup

Restore replaces existing local data with the selected backup. Make a backup of the current records first if you might need them.

  1. Confirm which backup contains the records you want and check its date.
  2. Choose Restore from Backup File in the backup tools.
  3. Select the intended file, read the confirmation and proceed only when it is the right copy.
  4. After completion, check accounts, balances and several recent transactions.

Choose the right tool

CSV and QIF import bring transaction data into an account. They are not substitutes for restoring a full Expense IQ backup. Cloud Sync also has a different purpose: keeping linked devices working with shared records.

If you use Cloud Sync, read any cloud or restore prompt carefully before continuing. Do not overwrite a complete set of records with an empty or outdated copy while trying to recover another device.
